The Owen Sound North Grey Union library is back better than ever.
After five months of renovations and a complete shut down last week, the library has reopened with a revitalized children and youth department.
Chief Librarian Judy Armstrong says the first thing people will notice about the newly renovated space is the bright colour palette.
The purples and greens were chosen to appeal to kids from toddlers right up to teenagers and Armstrong adds it’s a big improvement over the previous concrete and cinderblock look.
The renovations also included new carpeting, lighting, and insulation.
Armstrong says the 250-thousand dollar project was important in order to create an inviting space where children will want to go and learn to enjoy reading.
Armstrong says they’re still fundraising and need to raise a final 75-thousand dollars by the end of the year.
While the entire library is now back open with everything back in place, today is just a low-key unveiling of the revitalized children and youth department.
Armstrong says people are invited to stop by and see the changes, while regular activities like story time are now back on schedule.
A grand opening is set for Saturday June 6th.
