Collingwood Ethanol’s plans to reduce noise and smells are now written in stone.
The Ministry of the Environment has formalized the company’s plan into a control order.
The order — which was agreed to by plant officials — outlines the terms and conditions of the plan.
Facility General Manager Martin Kazmir hopes the plan will reassure the community that the plant is doing everything possible to address the issues.
Collingwood Ethanol will close down for as much as two months over the summer while it installs equipment to reduce the noise and foul odours.
The shut down will start June 30th.
Meanwhile — Collingwood Council will meet today to discuss the company’s plans to settle its court cases with the town and the MOE.
The town has launched a public nuisance complaint against Collingwood Ethanol for the noise and foul smells coming from the plant.
