Grey Bruce Health Services is promoting from within to fill its top position.
The interim tag has been removed from the title for Maureen Solecki, who has been named the full time President and CEO of the hospital organization.
Solecki succeeds Pat Campbell who left late last year to lead a new provincial initiative in womens health care.
Solecki was chosen from among 30 applicants after a national search lead by an external search company.
Representatives from the hospital board, the executive, management, front line staff and physicians were involved in the selection process.
The Chair of the hospital board, Butch Grenon, notes there were a number of excellent applicants.
But he says Solecki emerged from the selection process as the Committees best candidate for this crucial position.
Grenon notes Solecki has the skill plus the long time connection and understanding of the Grey Bruce community.
Solecki has been the spokesperson for Grey Bruce Health Services since 1998.
Solecki has been interim President and CEO since Campbell’s departure and has led the organization through a challenging external review process.
Besides the regional hospital in Owen Sound — GBHS operates hospitals in Markdale, Meaford, Southampton, Wiarton and Lions Head.
