A young Hanover woman has been given a conditional 18 month sentence in connection with a fatal car crash nearly 2 years ago.
19 year old Laura Steffler of RR 1 Hanover, pleaded guilty to dangerous driving causing death back in February, and she was sentenced recently in Walkerton court.
Along with the conditional sentence, Steffler was given 2 years probation, and is banned from driving for 5 years.
Back on August 11th of 2007 around 10 AM, Steffler was driving on Grey road 4 east of Hanover when her car caught the gravel shoulder on the road, she over corrected and her car crossed into the oncoming lane and hit a Volkswagen Jetta.
33 year old Colleen Lantz of Hanover was a passenger in the Jetta and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Her husband, 33 year old Bernie Lantz sustained serious injuries but recovered.
Their 6 month old child and Steffler were not injured in the crash.
