Saugeen Shores Councillors are facing questions about tentative plans to install sanitary sewers in the area north of the Saugeen River in Southampton.
The plan is still in a very preliminary stage and the town will review residents concerns if it goes ahead.
Mayor Mike Smith says the questions are about the project in general and how it will be funded.
Councillor Thead Seaman says he has also been contacted by property owners.
He stresses no decisions about going ahead with the project have been made because it all depends on if the town is successful in securing a federal infrastructure stimulus grant to cover one-third of the cost.
Smith says money was already budgeted by the town for an environmental assessment that will show how the project should proceed.
He says the town wanted the assessment done so that if funding for the project became available, it could proceed right away.
Smith says a lot of development has taken place in the area north of the Saugeen River in recent years and residents are concerned about losing the money they invested in septic systems.
He says similar situations have existed in other parts of the municipality and efforts were made to help property owners with financing, or to allow them to opt out of connecting to the new sewer system if their existing septic system was adequate.
Smith says residents questions will be answered in the future and for now wants to make sure everyone involved gets as much information on the project as they can.
