Local artistic produce will be on display for Owen Sound’s first 100 Mile Concert.
The event is being put together by David Sereda as his farewell to the city.
Sereda, a well-known member of the artistic community and an active member of Sheatre, is moving to Regina.
Tonight’s concert will feature Keira McArthur, Tyler Wagler, Colleen Allen, and former Poet Laureate Liz Zetlin.
Sereda adds there will be some surprise guests as well.
A silent auction will also be held, with proceeds going to help Sereda put out a new CD in the fall and to help Sheatre with their programming.
Sereda says many people already support local farmers and he wants to promote the idea of supporting local artists.
He tells us he lucked out when he moved to Owen Sound from Toronto in 2001 and found a group here like Sheatre.
Sereda will continue helping out with some of Sheatre’s ongoing projects, such as Corkscrew City, by composing music out west and even coming back to Owen Sound as soon as July.
He also hopes to bring some of Sheatre’s productions to Saskatchewan.
The 100 Mile Concert is being held at the Knox United Church in Owen Sound at 7 o’clock tonight.
