The Bruce Grey Catholic School Board has received some green money.
It’s all apart of the province’s plan to make school’s more environmentally friendly.
The Bruce Grey Catholic School Board is getting just over a million dollars to improve the energy efficiency of its schools.
Superintendent of Business Cathy Colton says the money will be spread out over a two year period.
Part of the money will be spent on an energy audit that will be used to identify what type of energy efficient projects the school board should take on.
Colton suspects some of the projects will include replacing old boiler systems and updating some of the lighting in the schools.
The provincial funding will begin to flow this spring.
The province is investing 550 million dollars in total to improve the energy efficiency of schools across Ontario.
The money is to be used by the school board to create environmentally friendly learning spaces, reduce energy use and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
