The amount of unpaid tax bills has increased slightly in Huron-Kinloss.
Over 5.6 percent of the taxes were unpaid for the first quarter of 2009 — compared to 5.3 percent for the first quarter of 2008.
Mayor Mitch Twolan notes the percentage is basically the same as the last couple of years.
But he says they’re still not sure if the problems facing the economy are to blame for the small increase.
Twolan says the slight increase isn’t out of the ordinary and not drastic.
He says council is still fairly comfortable with the low level of tax arrears in Huron-Kinloss.
