The Bayshore Broadcasting Healthy Tomorrow’s Campaign is off and running in an effort to support and stimulate planned giving for our regional Hospitals.
Grey Bruce Health Service Foundation Planning Officer Willard VanderPloeg says the special initiative is looking at the long term as far as fund raising for the seven different hospitals in this region.
Those hospitals include the Owen Sound site of the Grey Bruce Health service, including the Southampton Hospital, Centre Grey Hospital in Markdale, the Meaford Hospital and the Lions Head and Wiarton Hospitals.
In addition The Collingwood General and Marine and the Alexandra Marine Hospital in Goderich involved in the campaign.
VanderPloeg says rather than raising funds to support the Hospitals today, this campaign is about generating funding by having people leave donations to the foundations in their will.
Because of the geographic differences of Grey Bruce, Simcoe and Huron Counties the specific needs of the different hospitals vary greatly.
Dan Rose is the Chair of the Centre Grey Hospital in Markdale and says since their catchment area is so large, the need to fundraise to keep this small hospital up to date as far as medical equipment is concerned.
He says for a small hospital, they serve a large population base with more than 35 thousand people calling the Markdale hospital, their health care facility.
The Healthy Tomorrow’s Campaign will continue until the end of May and begin again in the fall.
