Saugeen Shores Council has decided on which infrastructure projects to seek federal funding.
Sewer, water, and road projects are on the wish list for cash.
Council is hoping for a piece of the four billion dollar Infrastructure Stimulus Fund pie to get one third of the funding to extend sanitary sewers north of the Saugeen River in Southampton; install storm sewers along sections of Market, Falconer, Highland, Bruce, and Crawford Streets in Port Elgin, and to install storm sewers on part of Concession 10.
From the Building Canada Fund, Saugeen Shores is hoping for one-third funding for paving work on Concessions 2, 4, and 10, the Doll Sideroad, North Shore Road, and Miramichi Bay Road.
Mayor Mike Smith says there will be a lot of work taking place in the community if funding is granted for all of the projects.
If the federal funding is granted, Saugeen Shores and the province would each provide the other two thirds of the cost for each project.
Mayor Mike Smith says the two senior levels of government are looking at ways of creating jobs and council decided to seek funding for projects that would do that, along with meeting the other grant requirements, like being environmentally friendly.
He says the town has wanted to extend the sewer system north of the Saugeen River in Southampton for a number of years but it just hasn’t been financially possible, but federal grant money would change that.
