Local MPP Bill Murdoch has only been back in the Conservative Caucus less than a week — and already he is making political waves.
Murdoch says he has decided to back Christine Elliott — the wife of Federal Finance Minister Jim Flaherty — in the Progressive Conservative Leadership race.
The Bruce Grey Owen Sound member says Elliott is the future of the party and is not looking to the past, but to developing a plan for the future not just for the party but for the Province as well.
Murdoch says it was a difficult decision as all four candidates in the race have strong positive points when it came to their leadership abilities.
Murdoch says he has the utmost respect for Frank Klees, Tim Hudak and Randy Hillier and any one of them could lead the party.
However he says that it is not just about leading the party, but who can win the next provincial election and he believes Christine Elliott is that person.
Murdoch says Elliott’s “The Path to Victory” plan convinced him she was the candidate he should be backing because she has gone beyond just thinking about winning the leadership, but winning the next election too.
He says what is important is that Elliott wants to meet with the grass roots membership to develop a plan to rebuild the Party then move on their suggestions to win the next election.
