Arran Elderslie Council has finalized the municipal budget for 2009.
Mayor Ron Oswald says they’ll be spending just shy of two per cent more this year.
He says the effect that will have on property taxes will vary, especially since last year was a re-assessment year.
Oswald believes it’s a reasonable budget, even after county and school board portions are included.
He says capital projects in this year’s budget include repainting the Paisley water tower, repairing the Chesley tower, and building a new water tower and pumping station in Tara, along with road construction and sidewalks.
Oswald calls it a responsible budget and says gas tax rebates from the federal and provincial governments help municipalities.
He says 2 million dollars in gas tax money is coming to Bruce County this year.
Arran-Elderslie Council will give final approval to the budget at its first meeting in May.
