The Saugeen Municipal Airport is about to undergo 100 thousand dollars worth of upgrades this year.
Airport Commissioner Selwyn Hicks says the upgrades include a new roof for the terminal, improvements to the washrooms as well as a new credit card aviation fuel system.
Hicks says this credit card system will allow pilots to fuel up at any time day or night.
Hicks believes this will be a real drawing card for outside pilots that need to fuel up in the night when there is no staff person on hand.
The Airport is also planning to host a number of special events and seminars this year in attempt to draw more pilots to the area.
This includes a major safety seminar tomorrow with 200 pilots and a visit from the B-25 bomber in June from the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum.
Hicks says the Saugeen Municipal Airport is always trying to reinvent itself to ensure that it continues to attract pilots from across the region.
He says the Airport plays an important role in the local economy and tourism industry.
The Saugeen Municipal Airport is jointly owned and operated by Hanover, Brockton and West Grey.
