Its anchors aweigh for the Scenic City Order of Good Cheer.
Its 15th annual fund raising cruise aboard the Chi Cheemaun gets underway this evening when the ship leaves the dock at 6 PM.
Order of good Cheer official Lyle Love says this years event is to raise money for their proposed splash pad to be located at Kelso Beach Park.
The water feature is designed to provide a stimulating play environment for children and unlike a wading pool the pad is designed to drain water away.
He says that means there is no water accumulation which eliminates the possibility of water related incidents.
Love says they hope to raise about 200 thousand dollars to pay for the construction of the splash pad and an additional 100 thousand dollars to bring in water and sewer services to service the facility.
He is hoping that the City will come on board and providing funding for that part of the project.
Love says City Council has indicated there is no money in the budget this year for that part of the project, so they are hoping there will be funding to move forward on the splash pad next year.
He says tickets for this evenings dinner cruise are almost sold out, but there are a few left for 80 dollars per person.
That will get you a gourmet meal, entertainment and a four hour cruise.
In addition there will be an auction of donated prizes as well as a silent auction to help raise money for the splash pad.
