It’s a new dawning when it comes to having that perfect lawn or landscaping.
On this, Earth Day, Ontario’s new pesticide ban has also come into effect.
Weed Man Spokesperson Duncan Atkinson appeared on Soundingboard on 98 the Beach and says it’s going to change the way some people approach their properties.
He says the homeowner is definitely going to have to take more of a part in looking after their landscape.
They can’t rely on lawn maintenance companies to do all the work.
He says to that end he and the town of Saugeen Shores are holding a public information meeting tonight at the Rotary Hall at the Plex.
Atkinson says at the two-hour seminar they will spell out in simple terms what the homeowner can and cannot do, according to the legislation.
He says everyone will have to get used to having weeds as part of the landscapes of the future.
More importantly, though, his industry is concerned about the future insect damage to lawns.
He says they do have products they can use but their effectiveness is very limited.
Tonight’s meeting at the Plex gets underway at 7 PM and is open to everyone.
