The April 20th deadline has passed to apply for the vacant Meaford – Blue Mountains seat on the Bluewater District School Board.
Former trustee Rick Galbraith resigned in March over communication and transparency concerns affecting the board.
12 people have applied for the seat and all of them will be interviewed on May 4th.
New Chair Jennifer Yenssen notes some have no school board or municipal council experience.
Yenssen says they want the playing field to be level for all applicants, so an information package has been prepared to give them the knowledge they need about the board going into the interview.
Yenssen admits it will still be a steep learning curve even with the information because of the busy schedule the board suddenly finds itself having.
With a review of policies and procedures about to get underway, Yenssen says whoever gets the job should have stamina and be prepared to spend many long hours with other trustees over the next two months.
The Bluewater District School Board plans to have the seat filled by the May 19th meeting.
