Applications for the second Building Canada Fund and the new Infrastructure Stimulus program are now being accepted.
The new government grant dollars means the town has another chance to apply for funding to rehabilitate and expand its water treatment plant.
The town is applying for funding for the project under both the Building Canada Fund and the Infrastructure Stimulus Fund.
Mayor Kathi Maskell believes Hanover has an excellent chance at qualifying for the funding.
This is because the town already has the funding it will need to cover its third of the project should it qualify.
The total project is expected to cost about 3.6 million dollars.
Meeting the May 1st deadline will also be no problem for the town.
Maskell notes all of the paper work is already in place.
Hanover is just recycling its old application for the same project that was rejected three times under the COMRIF Funding program.
The town is also applying for funding under the Infrastructure Stimulus Fund to assist with its 7th and 8th Avenue Sanitary Sewer upgrades.
That project is expected to cost anywhere from 4.5 to 6 million dollars.
