A search for someone possibly in the cold waters of Lake Huron is over.
Search and Rescue out of Trenton began the search Monday afternoon after a call came in about a single boater appearing to have trouble paddling in a canoe.
It was reported the canoeist and a dog were about two thousand feet off shore and battling winds gusting at 55 kilometres an hour.
Marine Coordinator Scott Miller tells Bayshore Broadcasting News a Coast Guard cutter from Tobermory was called in.
A U.S Coast Guard Helicopter, a Canadian Forces Hercules from CFB Trenton along with another volunteer vessel also performed the search until night fall.
Miller says an area about ten miles wide was searched between Sauble Beach and Southampton — but came up empty.
He says no one has been reported as missing either.
Miller says a search would resume, should further indications, including a call of a missing boater, come to them.
