Bruce Telecom’s Chair and CEO are answering questions about their credit limit.
Chair Richard Martin and CEO Michael Andrews appeared before Kincardine Council last week and said they plan to discuss concerns councillors have about the limit on the staff VISA account.
But it will first get looked at by the Bruce Telecom board.
The limit is 500 thousand dollars, and some councillors have questioned why it is that high.
Mayor Larry Kraemer — who also sits on the board of the municipally-owned utility — says the limit is spread out over all Bruce Telecom employees.
He notes one person does not have a credit limit of 500 thousand dollars.
Kraemer says it allows staff to cover travel costs for training and to cover expenses they may encounter while on the job.
Kraemer says it’s next to impossible that Bruce Telecom staff would ever spend 500 thousand dollars.
Kraemer also says there is little chance of the VISA line of credit being misused, because all of the statements go back to the Chief Financial Officer.
