Thousands of people raised over 4.9 million dollars during MS Walks across Ontario on the weekend.
Many local residents contributed to that total by taking part in yesterday’s fundraiser to find a cure for multiple sclerosis.
An estimated 55 to 75 thousand Canadians live with MS.
The biggest total raised locally was in Kincardine — where 329 people raised almost 93 thousand dollars.
In Owen Sound — more than 300 people raised over 47 thousand dollars.
In Collingwood — 275 people raised over 77 thousand dollars.
In Barrie — 737 people took part in the walk and raised more than 137 thousand dollars.
The walk in Orillia raised over 52 thousand dollars for MS as 288 people took part.
In Midland — 166 took part in the walk and raised over 27 thousand dollars.
More than 200 people participated in the MS Walk in Alliston and raised over 34 thousand dollars.
In Sarnia — 196 people took part in the walk and raised over 43 thousand dollars.
Another 309 people took part in the MS Walk in Stratford and raised more than 76 thousand dollars.
