The Wasaga Beach Lions Club playing host to the 2010 Home and Garden Show this weekend at the RecPlex.
It’s taking place from 10 AM to 4 PM today.
Home Show Chairman Richard Ratensperger says that they usually have about 18 hundred people come out to the show, but hopes that number will be a bit higher this year because of the nicer weather.
He says there is a long list of exhibitors, including booths showcasing hot tubs, energy saving devices, stonework, gardening equipment, winemaking, and home inspections.
Ratensperger says there’s definitely something for everyone who comes to the show, and adds that it’s a good learning experience too.
He says that the show originally started 17 years ago as a project by local builders who wanted to display their products.
Ratensperger says Communities in Bloom took over the show for a time, and then the Lions Club started hosting it.
He adds that the exhibitors at the show this weekend are much different than they were 17 years ago.
And there is also stuff for the kids to enjoy at the show too.
Ratensperger says that the Wasaga Woodworkers Association has brought in birdhouse kits, so kids can build and then paint their own birdhouses, and then take them home.
It costs 2 dollars to get into the Home Show, and kids under 12 get in for free.
Ratensperger says all the proceeds are going to Lions Club projects in the community, which include providing eye glasses to people who can’t afford them, supporting local hospitals, and children’s camps.
