Corporal Cameron Bruce of Port Elgin is back home after serving in Afghanistan.
Bruce is a 19 year old reservist with the Grey and Simcoe Forresters out of Owen Sound and Barrie.
He’s been in Afghanistan for the past seven months and was expected back at the family home on Maple Drive in Port Elgin today.
Cameron’s mother Jackie says she’s excited that he’s coming home.
She says they know they are blessed he’s back safe and sound.
Jackie Bruce says they’ve decorated the house and of course, outside has trees adorned with yellow ribbons along with a banner.
In addition 98 the Beach, SDSS and Super 8 Motel put up welcome home signs as well.
She says her son will probably relax for several weeks but may be looking at post secondary education this fall.
Cameron is a graduate of Saugeen District Secondary School.
Jackie says Cameron was one of 19 who deployed from the regiment and to date, all but seven have returned.
The remaining seven are expected in the next couple of weeks.
Jackie says the Grey and Simcoe Forresters will have a welcome-home party for the 19 in Owen Sound at the end of May.
