Visitor restrictions are in effect at some long term care facilities in the region.
The Villa in Ripley tells Bayshore Broadcasting News a gastrointestinal outbreak means the facility is completely closed to visitors.
With a new case reported today, 23 people including staff have now become sick since last Thursday.
While the visitor restrictions at the Villa went into effect this week, there is no word yet on when they will be lifted.
Meanwhile, there are reports of visitor restrictions at Trillium Court Senior’s Community in Kincardine as well.
While the facility will not confirm those reports, they are asking people to call ahead before coming in.
And the Grey Bruce Health Unit is reminding people who are sick themselves not to visit long term care homes or hospitals.
Health officials say while families may want to visit over the holidays, colds, influenza and other viruses are still active in the community.
