Easter isn’t just about chocolate bunnies and hunting for eggs.
If you’re looking for a way to experience the holiday’s meaning – Walter’s Falls and Temple Hills United Churches are once again putting on a performance of the Easter story.
Director Lorie Smith says this will be the sixth year they’ve produced ‘Journey Through Jerusalem’.
Smith says while the passion play will hint at the good news to come on Easter Sunday, it mainly focuses on the story of the cross.
She says watching the story is a lot different than reading about it and it can be very emotional as all of your senses get involved.
She says over 40 actors, singers, and even some animals help show you the events leading to the crucifixion.
Smith says the production is a way to tell the Easter story outside of the confines of the church, and they hope to reach people who may not come to regular services.
‘Journey Through Jerusalem’ will be presented outside the Walter’s Falls United Church every 20 minutes between 7 PM and 8:30 PM on Good Friday.
Admission is free although goodwill donations or food bank donations would be appreciated.
