The devastating Italian earthquake is causing some rumblings in Hanover.
Councillor Peter Hambly believes Hanover has a duty to be a good global neighbour.
He’s urging the town to open up the purse strings and make a financial donation to aid those devastated by the deadly earthquake that registered a magnitude of 6.3.
Hambly is confident that the people of Hanover will want to reach out to those suffering from the massive earthquake.
Council greeted Hambly’s request with enthusiasm and plan to discuss a dollar amount donation at the next council meeting.
Hambly notes that in the past Hanover has sent aid to other communities struck by disaster.
Because of this, he says it only makes sense for Hanover to do it again.
The Italian earthquake has killed scores of people and left tens of thousands homeless.
