Owen Sound’s YMCA is quickly moving forward with preliminary plans on the proposed new recreation centre.
They are preparing for grant applications from Federal and Provincial Governments
At last night’s City Council meeting the Family Y presented progress made towards the proposed facility — and they are directly on schedule.
Gayle Graham, CEO of the Family Y informed council members they have secured an architect and are working on putting together the information needed for grants.
Graham says preliminary drawings are being drafted then they will be able to draft conceptual drawings and a cost estimate.
She says since the committee has completed the second step they will be meeting with Bruce Grey Owen Sound MP Larry Miller and MPP Bill Murdoch in a week and a half.
Graham says as soon as the government funding is secured the focus will turn to public input.
She says the communication committee will be collecting input from residents through public meetings
Graham adds her door at the Y is always open.
Mayor Ruth Lovell Stanners says they will not be investigating proposed features such as the swimming pool and double ice pad until sometime in May.
