Kincardine’s Business Improvement Area has won an award from the provincial organization that oversees BIA’s.
Chair Margriet Van Erp says they’ve won the award for Market Analysis and Business Development from the Ontario Association of Business Improvement Areas.
It’s presented to the BIA that submits a successful idea that is geared to maintaining their downtown as a good place to visit and shop in.
The idea the BIA submitted for the award is the downtown provitalization plan.
Van Erp says it’s a two-year plan to address recommendations and strategies to make sure downtown Kincardine continues to be a vibrant heart of the community.
She says one of the first things they’re implementing from the report is a Business Retention and Expansion Study.
Van Erp says the four month study will allow them to find out what downtown businesses are doing well and what should be added.
Kincardine’s BIA Provitalization Report was written by BIA member Jacqueline Faubert.
