While a speech by Premier Dalton McGuinty was the main event, there was other important business underway at the Owen Sound Chamber’s Annual General Meeting.
David Moyer was acclaimed as the Chamber’s new president during Thursday night’s gathering.
Moyer — the President of Sydenham Group Incorporated — has been a Chamber member since about 1999 and has served as Vice President for the past two years.
Moyer says he’s very excited about taking on his new responsibilities
While he hasn’t set any specific goals yet for his term, he wants to continue the Chamber’s work of business leadership and advocacy.
He says he’s learned a lot from outgoing president Jay Cox, who has become a mentor to him, and taught him how to really listen to people.
Moyer says it was great having McGuinty give the keynote address at the AGM.
He calls him an eloquent speaker who touched a nerve with many people in the room.
Moyer says the event also provided the Premier with an opportunity to see Grey Bruce and hopefully go away with something in his mind to bring back to our area.
