The Lake Huron Centre for Coastal Conservation is hosting a Phragmites workshop today.
It runs 9 AM til 3 PM at the Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre.
Coastal Manater Patrick Donnelly says it will focus on the invasive species’ background and the species at risk because of it.
Recently – a pilot project to control it was done in Wasaga Beach at the Provincial Park.
Donnelly says several speakers will be talking about their research – results and control training options for the common invasive grass.
He says phragmites is a problem along most shorelines in the region – so the study applies to all.
Today’s session is completely sold out – though another sesssion may be held again in the future.
Donnelly will be a guest on Sounding Board on 98 the Beach next Wednesday to discuss the outcome of today’s session.
