Georgian Bluffs Council has presented a budget with a 2.5 per cent tax increase.
Treasurer Holly Morrison says although there is a tax increase — some taxpayers will notice a decrease of up to 55 dollars a year on their bill due to re-assessment.
The total operating budget is 4.2 million.
At last night’s Council meeting a public meeting was held for residents to voice their opinion on the proposed tax hike.
Only one person from the township came to raise concerns regarding the landfill and the new garbage bag tag bylaw.
Mayor Alan Barfoot says since there was no opposition from residents the budget will be finalized in two weeks at the next council meeting.
Barfoot says they will work on many roads projects such as paving Big Bay Side Road and resurfacing the Zion Church Road from Concession 14 to 16.
He says they will decide what other roads will be worked on after council does an official roads tour.
Barfoot says another major cost this year is the renewing of the recycling, OPP and Outside Union Workers contracts.
The Mayor says the recycling contract will see a 100 thousand dollar increase and the policing contract will see a 200 thousand dollar increase.
Other details of the budget include an increase on some building permit fees.
East Linton water rates will see also see a small decrease.
