Blue Mountains is the latest municipality to do provincially mandated lead testing.
Compliance and Efficiency Co-ordinator Meghan Boyd says they’re currently sampling about 30 older homes to find out whether they have lead pipes.
She says homes built prior to the mid 50’s are more likely to have them and homes built after that, up to 1989 could have lead in the solder or fixtures used to connect the pipes.
Boyd says once they get the tests back, they’ll let home owners know what kind of corrective action might be needed to get the lead out.
The Town is also issuing a notice to residents that a private company is soliciting residents again to have their water tested.
It is a separate initiative from the town.
