Future scientists and engineers across Grey Bruce are spending the day at the Bayshore Community Centre in Owen Sound.
Today is the Senior Bluewater Regional Science and Technology Fair which includes up to 175 science projects from Grades 7 to 12.
Chair John Twelves says there’s been plenty of interest by local students.
In fact he says the number of projects and students involved in Grey Bruce is better percentage-wise than any other part of Canada.
Twelves believes science and technology are important aspects of the local fabric with Bruce Power and Ontario Power Generation nearby.
One project he’s looking forward to seeing involves one of the students harnessing the heat from a chicken barn to grow plants in a green house.
Students waiting to have their projects judged will be spending time on the Chi-cheemaun with science students from the University of Guelph.
They’ll be solving a crime scene mystery.
The projects will be on display to the public at the Bayshore starting at 3:30 PM this afternoon.
The winners go on to the national competition in Winnipeg in May.
The Junior Science Fair in Bruce Grey will be held next Wednesday.
