Looks like there’s a good summer ahead for Saugeen Shores and area.
The Chamber of Commerce General Manager Joanne Robbins says according to a survey she conducted of cottage owners who rent their premises says they’re at 54 per cent capacity for the summer.
Robbins says it appears the volatile economy is keeping vacationers close to home and Saugeen Shores and area is going to cash in because of it.
She says she can’t remember facilities being 54 per cent booked so early in the season in previous years.
Robbins says she’s checked with area campsites as well and it’s an encouraging story there as well.
She says MacGregor Point is fully booked for the May 2-4 holiday weekend and in fact all hydro sites there are already fully booked for every long weekend of the summer.
Robbins says it appears the tourists are coming our way this summer and she hopes it means busy shops and services in Saugeen Shores and area.
