The 11th annual Community Awards have been handed out by the Meaford and District Chamber of Commerce.
Over 50 businesses and individuals were nominated in various categories.
Reeds Restaurant won the Most Improved Business Award.
Smith’s Tire & Service Centre won the Customer Service Award.
Millhollow Bed and Breakfast captured the Tourism Award.
Coffin Ridge Vineyards and Winery was named Agribusiness of the Year.
Shirley Keaveney, the owner of Meaford’s Dairy Queen, received Business Entrepreneur of the Year Award.
Barb Cooper-Clumpus received the Peter Francis Memorial Award for
exemplary leadership as a volunteer.
She is a former Chamber president and heads the Meaford Hall Foundation.
Barb Rush was presented with the Special Merit Award for her efforts promoting the 100th anniversary of Meaford United Church.
During the evening the Chamber unveiled a new logo and sell line for the town — “Meaford by the Bay — where great memories begin.”
