Business leaders in the Owen Sound area are giving a thumbs up to the new Ontario budget.
Past President of the Chamber of Commerce, Paul Neville says there were a number of initiatives announced by Finance Minister Dwight Duncan that are positive for both small and big business.
Neville says the harmonizing of the PST and GST will save 500 million dollars in processing costs from the current system.
Right now, Neville says business gets bogged down in paper work when they collect the two separate taxes and then try to get rebates for some of the money by applying to two separate tax collectors.
Under the harmonized system they will just have to deal with the Federal government.
Neville says there is some concern that putting the PST onto thinks like fuel does create a concern for the farming community which is price sensitive.
But he says there is a mechanism to get some of that money back.
