Owen Sound is holding a public meeting on creating a bike lane along 2nd Avenue East approaching Harrison Park.
A couple of years ago, city officials committed to considering bike lanes whenever a stretch of road was under construction.
Councillor Jim Mcmanaman says they’re about to do some work on 2nd Avenue East from north of the Jubilee Bridge down to the park and now is the time to talk about pros and cons.
Mcmanaman says the problem arises when they have to eliminate street parking to make way for the bike lane.
He says some of the homeowners along 2nd Avenue are worried about losing the parking in front of their homes..while those living on the side streets are concerned about the overflow clogging up their neighbourhoods.
The public meeting starts at 7 PM tonight at city hall council chambers.
