Fingers crossed, there will be a new doctor in Saugeen Shores by year’s end.
Mayor Mike Smith says they are going over agreements with a new one — coming from out of the province to set up a practice here.
Smith won’t say too much, but does confirm, details should be ironed out by mid April with the new doctor and council.
She will take on new patients from Saugeen Shores and Saugeen First Nation — but it’s not known yet which clinic she will be based out of — Port Elgin or Southampton.
Smith says once papers are signed and all is set, the new doctor should be settled in by the end of 2009.
Smith commends Saugeen Shores’ doctor recruiter Kevin Carter for his tireless efforts to help with the orphan patient problem.
