Brockton is looking to put all its municipal services under one roof.
Council has struck an Ad-Hoc Municipal Complex Steering Committee to investigate the possibility of having the administration, arena, the Walkerton Chamber of Commerce, and day care centre in one building.
The building would be similar to the one in the Town of Saugeen Shores.
Mayor Charlie Bagnato says with governments offering up infrastructure money now is a good time to make a move.
He says the roof at the 40-year-old Walkerton Community Centre is very poor and they have been experiencing a lot of problems over the last number of years.
Bagnato estimates the cost of the building would be in the 12 million to 14 million dollar range with the Municipality, Provincial, and Federal governments each contributing one-third of the cost.
Bagnato says the committee along with their municipal architect — G.M. Diemert Architect Limited — will be working around the clock in putting together a proposal.
He hopes they will be successful in securing a grant in order for the project to be shovel-ready within a year.
The location of the proposed building has not been determined.
