There is not much stink being made about a religious cross being taken out of a common room at the Hanover and District Hospital.
The Hospital Board heard a report last Tuesday by the hospital’s Ethics Committee that the life-size cross and all religious materials will now be stored in a doctors office.
Board and Ethics Committee member Brad Holman says materials will be made available by request.
Holman says the decision to remove the cross was because the hospital is non-denominational.
He says the committee first looked into the matter after one individual felt that people who have different religious beliefs maybe uncomfortable seeing a cross inside the room.
Holman says the hospital chaplain was brought in to discuss the matter and he gave his full support to decision by the Ethics Committee.
He says the patients and staff have been informed of the decision of the hospital.
