The first case of rabies has been recorded in the region.
The Grey Bruce Health Unit is confirming a rabid fox in the Brockton area.
This is the first report of a rabid animal this year.
Health Unit officials confirm there was no human contact.
Last year saw the lowest number of rabies cases across the province at 79.
Five of those cases were recorded in Grey Bruce and included three skunks, a cow and a bat.
Since 1989 the Ministry of Natural Resources has done a large scale distribution of oral rabies vaccine baits targetting foxes and raccoons.
The program is getting the credit for a 98 percent reduction in fox rabies cases.
