Owen Sound officials are anticipating a positive year despite a steep decline in February’s building stats.
The city issued 27 building permits last month with a value of 840 thousand dollars compared to last February when construction values topped 2.3 million.
Some of the larger projects last month included alterations to the Victorious Living building and the construction of a new house.
Development Co ordinator Sandi Parks says last month’s figures are more reflective of a typical year whereas this time last year the city was booming with several large projects including two new drug stores.
Parks says while the year to date figures are also down quite a bit compared to last year it’s early days yet and she sees several larger projects on the horizon.
Parks says they’ve just issued the building permit for the new 3.5 million dollar waste water treatment plant and she has permits for 5 new houses sitting on her desk.
