Staff in Huron-Kinloss will soon be seeking tenders for a major road reconstruction project in Point Clark, but there is concern about how much it might end up costing.
Engineers have estimated the project on Blue, Brown, and Ronald Streets at 1.2 million dollars, but staff and council are hoping it ends up being less.
Treasurer Jodi MacArthur says it’s early in the construction season and the township could end up saving money by awarding the contracts for the work before things get busier.
MacArthur says depending on what the tenders come in at, financing options will be developed for council to choose.
That could mean the work would be instead divided over two years or delayed.
She says the estimate is based on last year’s construction costs and hopes lower fuel prices this year will lead to the tenders coming in lower.
