Residents in the Scone area will have a first-hand look at some of the designs proposed for the Hamlets main intersection.
There is a public meeting at the Chesley Fire Hall tonight starting at 7:30 PM to go over the designs proposed by both Bruce and Grey Counties for the 4-way intersection on the Grey-Bruce Line at Scone.
Bruce County Highways Engineer Brian Knox unveiled eight different options at last Thursdays Bruce County Highways Committee meeting in Walkerton.
They range from installing a roundabout to splitting the intersections to doing nothing.
Arran-Elderslie Mayor Ron Oswald says he doesnt expect a huge turnout but he did promise the Scone residents a public meeting on the intersection.
He says this will give them an opportunity to express their views on how to make the intersection safe for their families while handling the large amount of traffic.
Oswald — a Bruce County Councillor and Chair of the Highways Committee — prefers a roundabout for the intersection but says he will accept whatever design is chosen.
He says they will gather feedback from people at the meeting to see what kind of designs they like and go from there.
Oswald says both Bruce and Grey Counties will be meeting to go over tenders and discuss the future of the Scone intersection.
He says the date for the meeting will be determined after the public meeting in Chesley.
