A Bayshore Broadcasting and CFOS alumni has been inducted into the Canadian Broadcast Hall of Fame.
Journalist John Roberts says he’s “flattered and so humbled” by the honour.
Roberts — who now is one of CNN’s star reporters and morning anchor — was inducted into the Hall last night during a special ceremony in Toronto.
The 52 year old Roberts started his career at CFOS in Owen Sound in 1975, reading farm market reports.
Roberts left 19 months later for CHUM in Toronto.
But Roberts says he has to thank Bayshore Broadcasting General Manager Ross Kentner for giving him his first broadcasting job.
Since then, Roberts has been been recognized with three Emmy Awards, a National Headliner Award and an Edward R. Murrow Award.
He has covered stories from the White House, the Middle East, the Iraq war and Hurricane Katrina.
