Organizers of this year’s 10th annual Polar Bear Dip in Owen Sound were a little cold — but also ecstatic with the final numbers.
It was a record year according to Owen Sound Police Sergeant Ted Kitto with 75 dippers splashing into the frigid waters of Georgian Bay.
They raised more than 11 thousand dollars and counting.
Their goal for the special 10th anniversary event had been 10 thousand.
This year’s event was helped by a challenge between OSCVI and St. Mary’s high schools.
St. Mary’s won the challenge bringing in more than three thousand dollars.
Money raised from the event goes towards local participants of the Special Olympics.
