It’s only early March, and Grey County OPP have already charged two people with impaired driving and two other drivers were given 12-hour licence suspensions.
Just after 2 AM early Sunday morning — an officer en route through Owen Sound observed a vehicle ahead being operated in an erratic manner and stopped it on 6th Street E. in Owen Sound.
The officer gave the driver a roadside screening test and after he failed that he was arrested.
Earlier the same morning, just after 5 AM, an officer made a routine traffic stop on Main Street in Markdale.
The driver was found to have been drinking and was arrested.
OPP Constable Steve Starr says Last year they noted a spike in impaired drivers in March, but hopefully he says that trend won’t continue.
However, Starr says we are not off to a good start.
