There’s a been a minor procedural hiccup with efforts by a Kincardine Councillor to have a full organizational review done of how the municipality works.
But the controversial project has still made it’s way onto the list of possible budget projects.
Councillor Marsha Leggett surprisingly asked at the beginning of Wednesday’s council meeting that a motion asking for the 125-thousand dollar review to be given pre-budget approval be removed from the agenda.
Leggett later explained she was informed that seeking pre-budget approval while the municipal budget process is underway is not legal so she withdrew the motion.
She says the original motion approving the idea of having a review that was passed in February still stands.
After the regular meeting, budget discussions resumed and councillors unanimously agreed to put the review on the list of capital projects to consider for this year’s budget.
Support for the review itself isn’t widespread though.
Mayor Larry Kraemer has repeatedly questioned the need for the review and criticized the cost of it.
Leggett has wanted the review to see if the municipality is functioning efficiently and transparently.
