Plans for an expansion in Georgian Bluffs got the temporary Green Light at Grey county council.
Those plans are included in a revised Official plan for the County.
There was opposition to the boundaries in Springmount being changed.
Grey County Councillors Ruth Lovell-Stanners — the Mayor of Owen Sound — and Arlene Wright both voiced their opposition to the changes at Tuesday’s Council meeting.
Wright — an Owen Sound Councillor — says the Provincial Policy Statement calls for growth where there are services available.
She says there is no servicing in that area along the strip aside from lagoons and wells and is worried about any run-off going into Georgian Bay.
Businesses along the strip want servicing to come from Owen Sound since they don’t get water or sewer service from Georgian Bluffs.
But she says Owen Sound’s servicing on the west end stops at the top of the hill .
Both Wright and Lovell-Stanners were caught off guard when Councillor Alan Barfoot presented a completed 3-year study from the Ministry of the Environment at the meeting.
Barfoot — the Mayor of Georgian Bluffs — says the study was part of an Environmental Assessment process and has been made available since November 2008.
Council rejected a request to table the issue, and instead accepted the minutes from the committee in a recorded vote.
The revised official plan from Grey county is now off to the province for approval, after which there is a 20 day appeal period.
