Donors can rest assured that any money they might donate to the Saugeen Memorial Hospital in Southampton stays at that facility.
It was suggested by some that money donated to the Southampton hospital was ending up in the general reserves of the Owen Sound Hospital.
On Soundingboard CEO and President of the Grey Bruce Health Services Maureen Solecki says the only time that might happen is if a special campaign was running regionally.
She says an example of that is the recent campaign when funds were being raised for an MRI machine in Owen Sound.
Otherwise Solecki says if any money is donated to the Saugeen Memorial hospital it would be forwarded to the hospital’s foundation board for future identified capital projects.
The money would not go into operating costs.
Solecki also pointed out that if a donor designated their money for a specific department, that money would be set aside until a capital need came up in that particular department.
