There’s still too much winter left for several families in the region.
The United Way of Bruce Grey has announced that the Winter Warmth fund has dried up.
Executive Director Francesca Dobbyn says their Union Gas assistance program of 75 hundred dollars has been exhausted for this year.
The fund helps low income families pay their heating bills in the winter.
Dobbyn says the early onset of winter this year and recent job losses in the region are part of the reason the fund is gone so early.
She says they’ve had more than 2 thousand dollars worth of requests for assistance that they couldn’t fill.
Dobbyn says the United Way was able to help 20 household with their gas bills this winter.
